Community Ministries

Picture
The Bridge has pledged to connect with our community by providing ministry needs and planning neighborhood events.  As we grow, our community involvement will grow.    Please scan down this page to see if God would lead you to serve in another ministry capacity at The Bridge. Here are examples of how we are attempting to connect to other people and serve our community:

1.  Open House - February 2009.  Our new meeting place at #77 East Plaza was freshly painted and prepared to receive visitors that were invited by adverisements, word of mouth and newsletter articles.
2.  Hired Ministry Director for The Bridge - April 2009.  To serve our community better the Core Group agreed to welcome David Glasgow as our "interim Pastor" for The Bridge.  Since April he was confirmed by our sponsoring church as the Director of Ministries for The Bridge.  Much has been accomplished since his arrival in the way of community ministries.
3.  Hot Dog Giveaway - August 2009.  We set up in front of Bob's Trading Post on Main Street, Havelock, and managed to talk to lots of locals about The Bridge.  I think they enjoyed the hot dogs, chips and drinks, too.
4.  Search for Significance - September 2009.  This course, facilitated by The Bridge folks, was about recovery and encouraging people that are going through some tough times.  The community was invited to participate and in fact a few did.
5.  The Oasis - September 2009.  A few folks from The Bridge helped Oasis Ministries in their planning and also to help set up this community fair sponsored by The Oasis Ministries (our suite mates at East Plaza).  A few others helped serve a free BBQ meal to our neighbors in the community and offered to supply more chairs for the occasion.
6.  City of Havelock's "Big Boy Toys" and "Chili Festival" - October 2009.  Friday night was cool and damp, but a group of folks from The Bridge set up our booth and talked to many folks about The Bridge.  We gave away a lot of promo items, too.  The same thing happened all day Saturday, only it was a clear and warmer day.
7.  Coastal Carolina Fair - October 2009.  The Bridge joined the associational wide effort to help the Coastal Carolina Fair fair ministry effort by delivering tables and chairs for the "meal tent" from The Bridge.  A few from The Bridge helped other church volunteers serve meals, distribute clothing and offer other ministries.
8.  Washer & Dryer Donation - November 2009.  A good, used washer and dryer was donated from the Bridge to a needy family in our neighborhood.
9.  Christmas Adoption - December 2009.  A family was selected for The Bridge to adopt for Christmas.  As of this writing, it's not too late to get a list of needed items and contribute to a family of four.  Please use the "Contact Us" tab above and ask Jean Nast how you can help.
10. Experiencing God - January 2010.  Currently, this course is being further developed and facilitated by Jim Price (for more info, use the "Contact Us" tab above).  See "Calendar" tab for further information on this course that is offered to the community.

Mentors are coupled with new Christians and others that need a little help in understanding thier faith.  If you feel called to this ministry and want to know about it, please "Contact Us" and we'll put you in touch with the right person.

Small Group Ministries
     1.  A Bible study small group currently meets in the home of Jean and Scott Nast each Monday night at 7pm.  They live on Church Road, Havelock.  They have just completed a study on the gospel of Matthew.  Please "Contact Us" and ask Jean Nast for more info on the next study.

     2.  Another small group that the Nast's are hosting in their home is for ladies only.  They have just started a study based on Cindy Wood's book entitled, The Frustrated Woman.  This group meets on Tuesday mornings at 9AM.  "Contact Us" to ask Jean about this group.

     3.  Our third small group will be starting on each Thursday starting January 7, 2010 at 6PM at The Bridge location in East Plaza, Havelock.  Jim Price will lead this 12-week course entitled, Experiencing God, Knowing and Doing God's Will.  Please "Contact Us" to enroll or ask about this course.
